About Plasma Nitriding

Nitriding Vs. Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (FNC)

There's a sibling process to nitriding called Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (FNC). They share the whole deal of treating surfaces by diffusing ions into the piece.

The twist is that in ferritic nitrocarburizing, carbon gets thrown into the mix alongside nitrogen. This move beefs up the white layer's thickness, a killer feature for parts destined for corrosive environments or where sticking it out against adhesion is make-or-break, like in valves, shafts, and food industry gear.

Getting the lowdown on the differences between these processes is a smart play to max out your equipment's potential and score top-notch results.
